Estimating software is one of those investments that pays back fast. Trimble Accubid Enterprise: the industry standard for large commercial electrical contractors. Full takeoff, labor unit database, assemblies, bidding, and project management integration. Expensive ($3,000+/year), has a learning curve, but used by most large NECA contractors. If you’re doing $2M+ in commercial work annually, it’s worth evaluating.
ConEst IntelliBid: more accessible price point for mid-size contractors, strong labor unit database, excellent reporting. Many medium-sized commercial contractors run their entire business on ConEst. Electrical Bid Manager (EBM) by McCormick: popular in the Southeast, solid takeoff capabilities.
For small residential/service contractors: Jobber, ServiceTitan, and Housecall Pro are field service management platforms with quote/estimate features built in. They won’t do a commercial takeoff but they’re excellent for residential service work where you need quotes, scheduling, invoicing, and customer management in one place.
